6 Important Things I Won’t DO This Year To Have A Peace Of Mind
6 Things I Won’t DO This Year
You should do the same!!
“The only person who can pull me down is myself, and I’m not going to let myself pull me down anymore.”C.JoyBell C.
It’s not always about adding more to make your life better, but subtracting and decluttering the noise that divides your attention and causes you to be overwhelmed, confused, and waste your energy
It’s an act of self love to get rid of things that harm you in any shape or form
So, don’t be hard on yourself for what you did because we are all humans, we make mistakes and learn from them, no matter how many times
In this post, I’ll share a list of things anyone could benefit from cutting or reducing that I’d be doing
So, to protect your energy and your attention, and overall mental power and health
Use it as inspiration to create a similar one or take what applies to you
What you’ll learn:
6 things that you should leave behind in 2026:
- My experience
- What is the cost and benefit of not doing them
- How am i going to stop it

6 things I won’t do this year (2026)
1-Not to waste time on SM, YouTube, and browsing
I noticed that I was wasting a lot of time on YouTube, browsing, and some scrolling on social media thta made me really sick and annoyed by getting behind on tasks i have to get done because of that
It’s the disease of this era that is affecting all of us, some of us scroll, watch youtube or /and
Cost: it’s costing me time, focus and any potential opportunities for growth
Benefit: finally can have time to do things i don’t have time to like improving my skills to work with them, build portfolios
How am I going to stop doing that:
I know these are not ideal. There is still time wasted, but they are at a comfortable level for my mind(ie. My mind doesn’t scream but agrees with me), it’s a start and will improve over time
1-limit Youtube to 3h per day: 1h entertainment,1h educational, 1h extra
2-limit SM to when I post or engage: 10-15min for scrolling if I really want
3-limit browsing to 30- 45 min is not necessary in one session
4-general entertainment(anime,kdrama,sitecom,..etc): 1-2h per day
2-to buying because it is on sale without prior need or plan
like many, I get easily swayed by sales, especially on things that are necessities when i have a perfect amount already and
I ended up spending more than what I budgeted instead of saving for the next time i need to buy them
it’s easy to get swept into buying things just because they are on sale and end up buying things you don’t need now or ever
Cost: is money that you don’t have or that you might saved or bought something much more important
Benefit: In not doing this, it saves money and uses it wisly which will help me become more financially responsible
How I am going to stop doing that:
1-Asking myself: Do I need this right now? Could it wait 2,3,4,5,6,..months before purchasing? When will i need it if ever?
Because, depending on the item, you may still need them later in the year
2-Waiting a day or two before purchasing to give myself time to think
3-start sinking funds, i.e., saving for later purchasing
3-telling myself: I can’t be like them, they are special, and I’m not..”
When I see a good creator, photographer, writer, etc. by default I find myself thinking or saying that I’m not like them, they are better, I can’t be like them
This is about comparing myself to people better than me in a field, skill, or area of life, then putting myself down that I’m not good like them, I can’t be good like them, they are so much beter and I’m worse ..
which discourages me, frustrates me, makes me feel helpless and ends up stopping at least for the time being and wasting time instead of becoming better
Cost: lowering my confidence, lowering how i see myself, getting left behind, wasting my potential
Benefit: not doing this will help me change and become what i want and do what i want
How I am going to stop doing that:
1-Catching myself when I do it then, saying the opposite i can be like them, i can be better than them, I don’t to be like them but I can get better
2-Everyone is different, but that doesn’t mean I can’t. Instead, I find a way that will work for me

4-stopping myself, telling myself I can’t, it’s hard, it’s a lot, I’m not good, it’s not good, it’s garbage..
when i write i get to a point sometimes where i feel it’s not good,it’ bad..etc which makes me stop and
feel frustrated, disappointed in myself, and can’t continue writing or taking photos..etc
I don’t want ot keep doing that
I noticed that i hear this voice in my mind that is always putting me down and stopping me from doing things i want
because of lower self-confidence in my skills and ability and fear and discomfort
i am sick and tired of letting it control my life
Cost: is stagnation, being stuck, not doing things i want because of fear, discomfort, pain from embarrassment, shame
Benefit: it will help me keep trying, getting better, and really learning
How I am going to stop doing that:
Practice mindfulness: each time i notice, even after the fact, I will switch my thoughts to the opposite or neutral thoughts to me
As i keep doing that i’m hoping to be able to catch myself in the act and direct myself and remember the self identity i created
which in the case of writing, is I’m a writer, I’m a good writer, I am getting better at writing as we do this..
5-making myself feel guilty because of others
when somoenone hand me food i don’t want to eat and it’s not healthy for me,i tend to take it as not embarrassing them but end up feeling guilty afterwards for longer
it’s not wrong to be nice but sometimes you need to choose you while still be kine to others
when doing something for someone out of obligation or instead of real want isn’t always the healthiest thing to do for both of you
Cost: doing this will make me feel guilty, dwelling on the feeling and thoughts, feeling shame and regret
Benefit: feeling peace, feeling good about other people and yourself
How I am going to stop doing that:
Of course, refuse politely or decline it in any nice way
6-waiting to know the right answer
whether choosing your next content idea, product idea, career to pursue, what to invest in..etc
it’s been two years of thinking of what skill to develop to earn money fast. I’ve been paralyzed with what is the best choice for me,
And there are so many, even when i narrow it down i still can’t manage to choose because I’m not sure still
, which i found hard to choose from up until recently, then suddenly it hit me
I realize time is passing by while I’m trying to find the best option and waiting without even taking action
Cost: would be wasting time, maybe waiting forever, wasting opportunities
benefits: taking action, experimenting with things until i find what i want or what work,
How I am going to stop doing that:
1-Making decisions and taking action on what i know now and considering things, but not to paralyze myself
2-use decision-making tools like pros and cons list, what would I regret if I don’t try,..
3-choosing what i already have good/ ok skill in to develop into something better that i can make money from

Final thoughts,
Sometimes you don’t need to add new things to change your life but to unload old habits, thought patterns, things that have been weighing you down as you are going forward.
it’s an act of self-love to get rid of things that harm you in any shape or form,
So, what are some things that are weighing you down that you won’t do in 2026? Share in the comments

These things are so relatable – I am trying to reduce my screen time as well!
