How To Reduce Stress And Overwhelm
stress and overwhelm are two emotional states that caused by our own thoughts and it may magnify by the outside world. everything comes down to our thoughts and beliefs.
When we’re stressed we think of thoughts that elevate and magnify this feeling and vice versa if we’re not thinking those thoughts we don’t feel stressed
there are also, actions and certain situations that cause this feeling which in turn generated from a thought or thoughts the action or the situation triggered
Stress affects your soul, mind, and body. not all stress caused by thoughts it could from dysfunction or imbalance in the body. we need to take care of our three essential parts of our existence to relieve stress and overwhelm.
taking care of the mind, body, and soul is very important to reduce stress
in truth, stress will come from time to time and that’s okay it only becomes something to worry about if it is consistent in our life, when you can’t feel relaxed for months
What Cause Stress And Overwhelm
Overthinking and analyzing cause stress because you are contemplating the thought over and over and our brain tends to think of the worst cases instead of best ones
Wanting things to be perfect can lead to stress because things never will be perfect and we need to accept that but that’s won’t going to be easy and it will take time to change how you think
Indecision stressful because it leads to overthinking.
when I go back and forth thinking about the thing I need to make a decision about that hurt my head
so, I try to distract myself but it still weighs on me even when I am not consciously thinking about when we are when my body becomes tense, stiff
I am developing this skill right now. it’s not easy but doable I took many years to develop this habit it will take time to develop fast decision making
starting by making a decision on the small stuff that we tend to neglect and leave what, when to do for later
eg. washing the dishes, cleaning the sink, what to throw, how and what to use for decoration, deciding between two wall arts..etc you get the picture.
Fear, if gone unchecked and not managed, leads to stress and overwhelm results in us going after distraction to numb it because it is painful
Change and going out of our comfort zone because it brings fear and self-doubt which cause stress to our body and mind.
if we don’t take action toward what we fear and manage those thoughts and change our self image and beliefs to support where we are going.
External Circumstances/pressure eg. moving,death,loss of job..etc
Illness and disease that affect the body or mind

To stop the overwhelmed and stress you need to
Get to the root cause of your stress and overwhelm by asking a simple question like why am I feeling stress/overwhelm right now?
write the answer don’t think it only because you can get further deep on whatever answer you get first by asking why to each answer
Change your thoughts and adapt thoughts that produce calmness, joy or whatever feeling you want
Instead of thinking thoughts like (, I don’t have time, There’re too much on my plate, I don’t know if I can do this, why suddenly everything seems chaotic and overwhelming, I need to get this right, I need to make sure everything right…
Think thoughts like these: ( i can handle this, I know something if not all to do, I have enough time to finish it or to do it, everything’s coming together, I can follow through, I need to get this done to the best of my ability right now, one at time
Create a thought (affirmation) that you will refer to when you feel stressed and overwhelmed
Journal your thoughts ask yourself what am I thinking this?, what are my thought about (whatever you are facing right now), get deeper by asking why to everything in your answer(it’s like talking to yourself but on paper)
Another question that helps reduce overwhelm is what would this looks like if it were easy?
Other things to do…
Remove yourself from the thing that causing you stress by doing something completely different what I mean is to distract yourself.
It helps you get clear about the solution if it is a problem or you realize
Meditating that everyone recommends and I will too because it really helps change your mindset.
changing our mindset will eliminate stressful thoughts because we changed how we look at a certain event, role, situation..etc
Personally, I only do guided ones with suggestions/affirmations in them those suggestions helpful to reprogram my subconscious which is the cause of the thoughts of stress, fear, and overwhelms.
there are guide ones without suggestions/affirmations in them. they just guide you through the process; remind you to take a breath, bring back your thoughts to your breath when your mind starts to wonder which is natural
Make time for self-care. Doing stuff that you love and makes you feel relaxed and happy. it includes your mind, body, and soul because maybe the cause of your stress is your lack of taking care of your body and health.
or maybe there’s something stressful in your body like toxins which lead to those thoughts and when you are not taking care of yourself.
then stress happens and will affect everything.
I am not perfect at this but I am doing it as much as I can and incorporate in my daily life.
I will think of creative ways to incorporate in my life and share it with you.
The stuff I do that I consider self care are skincare, watching tv to wind off, learn something fun to do ( what I am learning now for this Korean language), sometimes I color, read fiction, working out, journaling, listening to music.
some suggestions for things to do if you are wondering what to do:
Take a luxurious bath, go for a massage or facial. go to the spa or make your own easy and relaxing routine. taking care of your health if you have been neglected it because maybe it is the cause for your stress, read a novel, color, play an instrument, learn gardening water coloring,…etc
Have daily rituals that help keep your mind in check: that could be anything you want that help you manage your mind.
Here is what I do consistently( doesn’t mean every day it means more doing than not) to manage my mind you may find something you want to try yourself :
journaling(brain dump style), meditating(guided), reading, listening to uplifting podcasts, reading my affirmations(you can write them too).
It’s important to manage my thoughts because if I don’t my mind start to get back into its old programming it’s still doing but now I can see that and can reframe and direct it to what I want.
I notice a difference when I do it or not my brain goes into a negative spiral easily when I am not doing it for a long time. it gets back to being reactive.
Yes, I still see myself doing it and can change it but it gets back to it again the second I let go.
I find it easy to not be affected by the outside world and own negative thoughts if I did my mind work. stress and overwhelm gets me more easily
Working out: any kind that you love.
because it will give a boost of energy, endorphins and I learned that after working out you are close to your subconscious
so, you can use it to install a new thought/belief in your subconscious right after or during
I do mainly strength training and cycling from time to time. love the energy and change of mood I get after even if I was dreading not doing in the first place
also, I get too many ideas and realization during it and after it immediately. so, I write them sometimes on my phone and I will try to write them more from now on
what is it you do that help you relax? what you do when you feel? stressed and overwhelmed?
let’s build our dreams
