Overthinking Your Business Niche And Ideal Client Avatar: Niche Drama
Business Niche And Ideal Client Avatar Drama Perfectionists Entrepreneurs Go Through
I was in drama land all these months
Choosing a niche can be hard if you try to choose the “right” one
Since I thought I need a perfect one so, I could sell and make an offer
That’s what you hear everywhere from the business and marketing gurus
I thought about it over and over again
But couldn’t reach something that I felt good about
I’ve answered questions upon questions related to the niche and ideal client over and over again
But I felt meh about my answers
I didn’t know if what I chose is something anyone would want(has audience and demand)
They’re already people doing it
Am I copying someone else
I didn’t want to copy or be someone else
I was resisting and wanting my niche and the ideal client to be so unique no one heard of before
However, no matter how long I think and search I seem to reach blank (nothing)
Can you relate?!
What I’ll Discuss In This Post Is:
1- what tips and advice out there that don’t work for us perfectionists
2-the mindset behind why these tips and advice don’t work for us
3-what I am doing and what can you do too if you’re in this place

What Didn’t Help
1>>And all the messages about how important the niche is (and I don’t say it is not) get perfectionists into a frenzy
since we get into wanting it to be perfect so, we can succeed and do the next step (all or nothing thinking triggered)
Which affected creating content because I was busy thinking about this and didn’t feel it’s right to post while I have conflict in my mind despite knowing that action breeds clarity
2>>Niche and ideal client can change and evolve but it’s not easy to accept that in reality if you’re a perfectionist
because we think we won’t succeed if we don’t have the perfect thing from the get-go.
you don’t want to embarrass yourself and feel shame in case it doesn’t succeed and people you know saw it and judge you for it
3>>Getting clear on your niche and avatar is important but not too specific at the first time or second time.
getting into that We should have a clear one( many of us have a clear one but we are not sure if it’s clear enough, can you relate?)
so, we can sell (things overlap with fear of selling and being afraid of getting exposed as a fraud)
>>>>lead us to get stuck and being paralyzed
you need to take it slow and start to understand your avatar slowly and steadily rather than getting into all or nothing about it
by wanting it to know it now or wait until you figure it out
( by spending too much time thinking about it will take the time from other things we need to do)
I think you can spot what kept me stuck here
-I wasn’t taking enough action to get feedback on what I chose
because I didn’t want to waste my time and effort doing things that don’t lead to anywhere since I wasn’t sure of my choice
I know Doing market research is important but I was confused and overthinking it too(i.e. doing market research calls) also, i wasn’t sure it will help since I’m in this state, you know?!
If you’re a quiet person you won’t get excited about talking to strangers too which is another thing my mind kept dwelling on
In this case the solution is to do it in a way you see fit for you i.e doing a survey or passive search instead of calla for instance
(that’s an obvious solution but when you’re in it you can’t see the answer)
-I wanted it original niche & avatar when it’s okay to start with something whatever it is as long it’s something I like.
I don’t need to have a niche no one heard of before to be unique
I thought if I nail it I would finally succeed and is the reason why I didn’t succeed so far.
putting too much pressure on choosing it and that’s why I wanted to make sure it is right
Even if my niche is somewhat similar to someone else doesn’t mean it’s the same or it’s a copy when there’s a lot of business coaches that help the same person and
other entrepreneurs who help the similar avatar. why can’t I? right!
>What makes us unique is the massaging and who we truly talk to not the general niche and client profile
Honestly, I got stuck trying to get clear why?
Because I thought I can’t launch anything without being clear. yes, that’s somewhat true but not entirely. all I need is
getting clear enough not perfectly clear and do a little market research and launch and get feedback but I was in my head about it for the entirety of this year, oops?!
Clear enough is enough, how do you know you’re clear? When you can answer the following question with specific enough answers, not perfect answers, okay?
here are some questions to help
how do they identify themselves? what are their goals? what do they really want(outcome)? what’s their problem(s)/struggle(s)? what are their desires and how does it relate to what you help them with? how do they think and feel right now without their outcome? what are their fears, insecurities, beliefs, and values? what do they do that isn’t helping them reach their outcome? what they will feel and think when they have their outcome and have their desires?
ideal client journey is like the following:
point A where they’re struggling and don’t have the outcome/solution to their problem/desire
point B where they solved the problem(s) and have the outcome they want /have their desire
the questions above will help you identify both points. so, you don’t need to look anywhere else
and remember that knowledge about marketing and business isn’t the same as applying it we get into our heads about that
thinking that since we know we should do it right. they’re not the same period!

What Did I Reach (Conclusion)
1- I am my avatar that’s the best tip I got
Helping who I used to be is what I can do not trying to pigeonhole myself into something new that I don’t even know.
I was resisting this for so long because I thought there’s a perfect niche and avatar that I need to have
so, I can truly show up and build a business. Intellectually I did know there isn’t however, my mind didn’t catch up with this
Instead of feeling, I need this to be perfect and push myself to know my avatar perfectly
2-I decided to trust that My niche and avatar is enough as it’s now there’s no need to dwell on it.
I can keep working on it as I go along and think of it as an adventure to uncover things about them
as I take action and show up and get your feedback instead of thinking about it
so, I won’t wait anymore to have a perfect niche and avatar I’ll start and improve as I go
3- It’s okay to have a “mediocre” niche instead I’ll focus on my message and help them what they need help with
I was a generalist for the whole time I talk about everything personal development then
I catered it to entrepreneurs now for perfectionist entrepreneurs and will see where it going to evolve into
I feel excited about it as I’m writing these words 🙂
