Self Care During Holidays For Busy People
8 ideas that will make this holiday the best
self care during holidays
holiday self care tips
during the holidays things get busy between work so many to-dos, business,
meeting family and relatives, and attending parties or just small dinners.
this can be stressful, overwhelming, and challenging for many of us even if we love meeting family and having a good time
for me, no matter what interaction I have regardless of how good or bad it is drains me and can be stressful and overwhelming in some cases
so, I need to make time to care for myself and my needs, especially during a time like this
otherwise, I find that I am overwhelmed and stressed and unable to enjoy or get by
and if you’re like me and most people you’ll need to do self-care during the holiday or you will suffer
in this post, I will share 8 tips and ideas for holiday self care that worked for me and have evidence behind them
what you’ll learn:
8 tips for self care during holidays
let’s start
(disclaimer: don’t take any supplements or make any dietary changes without consulting your doctor)

8 ideas for self care during holidays
1-be realistic with your time and what you can do
plan the money-making and important tasks only and
Anything that is a maybe important or can be delayed until after this time drop it
and reschedule it for a later time.
this time is about focus and restrictions since you’ll be busy with other things
I learned that overscheduling during this time leads to frustration, feeling miserable and
not enjoying your time so, schedule and do the most important tasks
2-practice kindness and compassion with yourself
No matter how hard we try to be perfect and make things go smoothly that won’t happen
When things don’t work, something disturbs your plans for the holiday or work
don’t go onto self-criticism, loathing, or blaming instead shit that into compassion and kindness
because being your worst enemy won’t help you get things done or have great mental health
having this mindset helped me to accept, and be kind to myself which is
“Things will be all over the place and that’s ok I’ll do my best at the time and be kind to myself”

3-don’t neglect your mental health
as much as this time is fun and beautiful it’s still stressful in its own right
Take the time to take care of your mind. The main areas would be managing stress and anxiety and regulating your emotions
here are some ideas for things that I found to help :
movement of any kind walking, stretching, weight lifting, cross fit, hit workout,
Journaling, check-ins with yourself about
how you feel, and think, what you can think to enjoy your time, what you want to feel, how can you ..etc, and writing them down plus doing it mentally,
writing what you are grateful for
deep breathing, watching something uplifting, time alone even if it’s short, getting present to what you do, and feeling grateful for it

4-have alone time for yourself no matter how short it is
where you can do any fun activity, hobby, or just relax
ideas for things that you can do alone:
reading a good fiction or nonfiction book, taking a warm bath, journaling, walking..etc
I always need time to myself especially during the holidays even if I do nothing in that time that in itself energies me

5-gratitude and perspective
count your blessings and everything you’re grateful for in your life and this season
write down what you are grateful for or do it mentally, write a thank you note…etc
gratitude will make feel better, and happy, reduce depression, relieve stress, and improve your well being according to research
It can be helpful for people who feel down, overwhelmed, or lost it shifts your perspectives to see what you have and brings you to the moment
and if you find yourself thinking anything negative or draining shift your perspective
instead of I have to… shift it to I want to… it’s one mindset that you can try
eg. if you think”I have to be with them, I have to do it this way or that way, I have…” shift to I get to be with them,I get to do it whichever way, I get to..etc”
this mindset changes how you feel and see things. this is just one way how can you change your thoughts
6-be mindful of your sugar intake
enjoy every bite you eat without guilt while minding your sugar intake
reduce sugar intake as much as you can or try to have at least one healthy meal during the day
It’s ok to eat sweets and all the fun food while balancing with some healthy alternatives for some meals, snacks, drinks
I found that going ham as time went by it hurt my body more than I wanted to
7-make easy health swaps
Change sugary, high-carb ingredients with ones that have more fiber, and are low in sugar
Replace meat with leaner protein like chicken, fish and truly
Fresh spice in place of sugary
healthy fats instead of saturated fats in cooking
think what else you can swap in your regular holiday food and
once you start you’ll start to find more things to swap with healthy and delicious options
8-few tricks for a healthier holiday
some of these tricks if not all work during the holiday and beyond
these tricks came from thinking about how to make eating healthy easy
here are some of my healthy tricks:
drinking different smoothies, adding side dishes like pickles, fermented veggies like sauerkraut, kimchi with meals, making different healthy sauces to add to any dish like ketchup
mixing healthy powders like (wheatgrass, collagen, moringa..etc) with smoothes, different dishes or just consuming them with water
adopt Drinking different teas as each tea has different benefits eg, camomile tea, anise tea, and hibiscus tea…etc, take your supplements
(disclaimer: don’t take any supplements or make any dietary changes without consulting your doctor),
drinking enough water, and drink a glass of water before a meal,
enriching your meals with nuts, seeds, and herbs. also, eat them as snacks with fruits
do your favorite dishes in a healthy manner.
you can almost find any alternative healthy recipes for your favorite dishes even pizza (look for recipes online)

In summary,
These were self-care ideas for the holidays. Try some of them to make your holidays less stressful!
self-care during holidays can be as simple or complex as you want it to be, but of course the simpler and easier the better
anything can be considered self-care, even just how you view the time itself (your perspective about the holidays), which will affect your mental health and how you show up
To your success
