How To Be Productive While Moving
Moving houses while working is hard. It takes a lot of your time and attention which affects your work.
it can steer you from your own work if you are a creator, entrepreneur,
or just working a job that causes you stress
In the past couple of months, we began moving houses and it was hectic, time-consuming and mentally and physically exhausting.
It wasn’t easy to get work done outside of the move work
However, I did what I could to work to my best at the time
and didn’t shame myself for not doing it when I couldn’t
I wanted to share
in this article, the mindsets & practical things I did that helped me during that time in the hope of helping you who are going through the same thing
Let’s get to it

How To Be Productive While Moving
1-set priorities
Determine what’s important to do especially in the early days of the move when you still have time to work.
you can do more during this time if you know what needs to be done before things get really going
be very meticulous during this time as you have to start doing the move work as well
so, I prioritize posting on social media before the actual day of the move, posting 1 blog a week, and doing 2 photo sessions up until the day of the move
and after the move do what I can at the time whether it’s posting, writing, or admin work that’s it
of course, you have different priorities than mine. mine was social media & content creation
I didn’t do any other work because I knew wasn’t possible for me at the time
2-plan and schedule the important and urgent work
as you now know what needs to be done now (before the move)
and what needs to be done after the move
write exactly what you need to do for each priority be specific then
put these tasks on your calendar where you will choose the best time to get them done in
if after you schedule those tasks things change whether you are tired
or something else move the block to a different time learn more about time blocking here
i blocked time for the tasks I intended to do while taking into consideration the packing
& other life matters from sleeping to eating
3-get 1-2 hours of work the least every day before things become hectic
if you can have more time that’s great or less that’s OK too.
the important thing is to focus during that time so, you can get it done
You don’t need to overwork yourself that’s what I think
i wasn’t aiming to do more but to get those tasks done in the time I had which was around 2 hours.
I know that is not much but I know myself and how things will go so, that’s that

4-take time to rest and care for yourself
It is a stressful process so, this is essential. it doesn’t matter what you do to take care of yourself.
rest is part of self-care but you can do other things besides it like the ones here
it was important to me to rest when I couldn’t work and not let my mind nagging
or shaming stop me from resting and doing what I needed for mental & physical care
5-prepare beforehand
sit down and think of what can you do before the move day for your work & business
here are some ideas for things to prepare
start packing away before the move date gets close,
finish important work, batch content and schedule them
i started packing early, prepared content for my personal brand,
and took multiple photos for my photography brand
6-delegate
delegate work to other team members, let someone do the packing for you,
postpone anything that isn’t important

7-be kind to yourself
when you don’t get things done as usual.
when you can’t do everything you planned as the move gets more pronounced
shaming or blaming won’t help it’ll just make you feel awful and stressful
8-be proud of the work you do no matter how small it is
as a high achiever/ambitious, you are borne to want to do more, to do great things,
never to be satisfied with doing small things, few things, and most importantly not producing results
as a result, you(I) tend to disregard the small tasks we complete, and the actions
we take and focus mainly on the results which can always leave you feeling dissatisfied
with where you are on the journey to your goals
you need to remember that big goals take time, and small tasks that lead to your goals are just steps to getting there
from that, take a moment to be proud of the work
you’ve done during this time no matter how small, seemingly insignificant might seem
during the move, you might not get as much as used to or
even as you planned in the previous steps above that’s ok.
just take a moment and be proud of anything you’ve done despite being tired, stressed,
and exhausted during this time. do it after you finish tasks
or(and) after the move write everything you got done and feel proud of your achievement
here are some of the things I am proud of:
i am proud of myself for keeping working despite my usual tendency
to stop my work when I have outside work like moving
i am proud of myself for doing things when my brain felt couldn’t
but knew that was just my old pattern not really tiredness
i am proud of myself for posting on social media,
and writing 2 blogs until the move( after I couldn’t until we finished organizing the house)
9-remember that this time will pass.
You will go back to doing what you love at full speed again.
This reminder is especially for people who shame themselves for not getting work done
or a good amount of work done as usual when there are people(successful people)
who do work when they are tired or exhausted
that may be true or not
doesn’t matter what matters are you taking care of yourself
and doing what you can do in the situation to the best of your ability at the time.
I said that because I felt like that in many instances.
I had to remind myself of this when I thought” I didn’t do much,
when I didn’t get what I planned done,
when I felt like I should do more how could is achieve anything if I didn’t push past tiredness,
when I felt stressed that I was wasting my time packing instead of working”

These are tips and mindsets that helped me when we moved and I WANTED TO SHARE them with you if you are moving right now or about to
To help get things done with less stress as possible or mental nagging
What things helped you get work done while moving? any tip from above are going to use? Comment below
