How to organize your week : tips with a simple but effective system

Organizing and planning your week is very important to have a productive, full of completed tasks next week.

organizing my week helped me to be effective, and productive, get more done, see possibilities to achieve things that I didn’t see before, not to waste my time a lot like I used and be more aware of how I spend my time.

removed the mess that is caused by not having a clear path through the week, and eliminated decision-making on what tasks I have to do that day.

My journey to being productive started long ago in high school and it improved over time.

because I am always looking for ways to help me get stuff done, improve my life, be efficient and not to forget to do important tasks/work.

because that happened a lot to me and still happens sometimes now when I skip or ignore organizing my week because I forget.

also, I am a person who wants everything ready beforehand and just jumps into doing the tasks without

thinking “oh, what I need to get done today, what is next…etc” eliminating decision fatigue is the best thing you can do. because there are a lot of things you have to make a decision on.

so, instead of wasting that power on remembering and deciding what to do I just do it weekly.

this strategy you can do it for many things like having all the meals of the week prepared and ready, outfits, making everything ready for you to do morning and night routine.

I started using to-do list I think where everyone starts and I still use them
now and then

How to organize your week

The Process/System I Use To Organize and plan Each Week

Each Saturday I sit down for one hour to do this. sometimes I do it on Sunday if I had something or procrastinate (being honest here lol!)

1-bring my planner(where i planned the whole month in advance)

2-open google calendar and a note-taking app/site. for me I use Evernote to do the next step in you can use a traditional notebook

3-start by reviewing/reflecting on the past week before planning the next week

There are three categories/questions i ask myself which are:
Observation and what i didn’t do/what didn’t work

This to reflect on the tasks that I didn’t do and other things that happened during the week that might be important. also, I write sometimes why I didn’t do them

Wins and highlights

To reflect on the good things, what did I do and finished. Highlights don’t only mean the tasks but anything that happened that spark joy, happiness in you outside of your work

what need be done next week to overcome it & make better week to reach my dreams, goals?

This to come up of ways to improve ,optimize next week based on the good and not good things that happened last week

4-scheduling and blocking my time

I look at my monthly plan and see what tasks I haven’t finished yet and then block time for them on the calendar if I haven’t done so when I planned the month. also, I make other changes in my daily structure and plans if I need to

I have a full blog post if you don’t know how to schedule your time the right way here

5- I write my to-do list when I don’t do schedule my time the week before. sometimes I write the tasks that I have to do that day from the calendar but this’s not a consistent practice

Tips To Improve Your Productivity

  1. only do three tasks a day to prevent overwhelm and abandonment of tasks
  2. finish one tasks at a time, don’t jump from task to task it’ll be hard to focus
  3. set a timer especially when you find yourself unable to focus on the task at hand
  4. open only the tabs that are relevant to the task you’re doing right now
  5. experiment with these productivity methods and adjust and change and let go as it fits you
  6. read your goals daily to be reminded of why you are doing all these tasks/work
  7. it’s okay if you don’t get to complete each day’s tasks or don’t them perfectly as you planned as long you did them that what count

let’s build our wildest dreams
