The Key To Having A Productive Week : How To Have Productive Week
How do I have a productive week
The key to having a productive week is preparation, compassion, mindset, easy system to follow.
You don’t need fancy software or tools; you need a simple system that takes your whole life into perspective to have a productive week
So, in this post, I’ll share my system, tools, and habits for having a productive week
What you’ll learn:
-how to prepare for a productive week ahead; my weekly productivity routine
-how to plan a productive week with a weekly productivity checklist
-habits for a productive week

How to have a productive week
For me, it comes down to prioritizing and being realistic while not forgetting that I’m human
Prepare for a productive week (System)
This is my Weekly productivity routine
1-start with a simple review of the previous week
Take stock of your accomplishments, failures, thoughts, and beliefs
Understand how you felt about the week and how that actually represents the truth or not
Does it represent your action or lack thereof. Many times i have felt that i had a bad week, but it turned out that wasn’t the case
Here are the questions i use:
What did i get done?
What didn’t I get to?
How can I overcome the issues that arose?
What can i learn from what i got done?
What would my future self that had a productive week do,think, shift to get closer to her goals, and reach them?
2-plan your week
Here is how to plan a productive week
Think of what you want to accomplish and get done that will lead you closer to your goals
What are the 20% tasks that will give me 80% of the results?
Choose realistically based on how much time you actually have, your energy, the habits you already have,
essential things that you must do like work, eating, sleeping, working out,..etc
Then, i decide when i get them done, the best time to get them done based on my energy?
What would make me feel accomplished if nothing worked? Another question i ponder on
After that, block them on your calendar
Nowadays, I make a master list of every task related to work or otherwise,
Each day, I move 3-5 tasks to get done to a to-do list for today,
knowing when I will get it done and how long it will take for each one
I use the Google Calendar task tab to make my to-do list and schedule them on my calendar if I want to
Read these articles to learn about time blocking and a deep weekly planning and review process I used to do

3-food and workout prep
I don’t meal prep, instead i prep recipes and ingredients.
Then, write (or in my case, copy) my workout plan for the week; I have a Notion page with a template that i organize each week
Recently, I’ve only been recipe prepping, then when i cook for Monyda, for example, i make the food for the next 3-4 days and repeat
4-some organization and cleaning
tidying up, washing clothes, vacuuming, wiping surfaces
I do something throughout the week, especially closer to the weekend
5-showring and prepping cloth for the week
I take a shower as it is a good way to feel refreshed as I go into the next week. nothing like taking a shower,
then applying my moisturizing cream that smells like cocoa, doing my skincare, wearing fresh, beautiful pajamas
Weekly productivity checklist

Habits for a productive week
1- having compassion for yourself, as things often don’t go as planned, whether that’s
because of distractions, emotional distress, or something happens at work, at the house, to your family…etc
I get frustrated with myself easily, and being compassionate with myself when I become aware is the real work
2-visualizing the outcome of the week and how you’d feel at the end if you did your best
That will prompt you to stay as close as humanly possible to your tasks
3-having buffer time or a contingency plan for things that you know might happen
Buffer time means scheduling/ blocking time on your calendar to use when you want more time or
When the time you planned for a task didn’t work, you can use the buffer time as a replacement
You can use the idea of buffer time to have a buffer day instead, where you can get things done that
You couldn’t, despite planning it, because life happens
A contingency plan is about having a clear what to do when something happens that in your expectations based on your experience and what is known
I use the if-then rule here
Eg. if i feel the urge to browse, then I’ll stop and ask myself Do I really want that?
if i don’t want to do a task, then I’ll journal about why
if i find myself scrolling, then I’ll stop and imagine my time in life disappearing with every scroll

4-adopting helpful mindsets
What you think and believe has a direct impact on your actions.
That’s why it’s important to take a look here and adopt mindsets that will aid instead of deterring you
Mindsets that will help you have a productive week:
1-always make things easy
Think of what a productive week looks like to you. Is it getting everything done? Is it doing the best you can? or showing up daily despite the outcome?…
how can you make it easy to have a productive week?
i am not perfect, i forget sometimes to do that and default to making things the opposite.
That’s why i know asking this question simplifies things and gives an easy way to reach things
2-focuing on doing your best each day, despite whatever happened
as long as you know that that’s what matters. I learned that i need to acknowledge myself and put in more.
i started a daily win list that is similar to a to-do list, but for all the things i accomplished each day
3-it’s ok for things to divert and i can adapt to it
Accepting this fact brings me peace to move on without feeling disappointed or discouraged
4-feeling discomfort isn’t a reason to stop and not do anything.
There are many times when I avoid a task because of discomfort.
When I journaled several times, i reached the mental shift that it’s ok to feel this way,
and still take action, while feeling uncomfortable, and then i have an option to shift discomfort to ok
By accepting discomfort that shifted it shifted to ok
These were the mindsets to help you have a productive week
5-take care of your emotions regularly, if not daily/ emotional care
Simply because they affect your action, what you do, and can’t
If you find yourself unable to do the work, follow your schedule, distracted, feeling stressed, feeling overwhelmed, persistent, etc
Take a moment to check in with yourself. I prefer taking my journal and writing about what i am feeling, why i feel that way, what thoughts caused these feelings,
How can i get out of this state, or how can I work despite it without forcing,
What I want to feel? What thoughts can I think that will help me feel this way and prompt me to the action i want?
Daily, you can do a brain dump, then see what thought blockage there is.
Then you can switch or shift some or one of these blockages to help have a better day

Conclusion
In summary, making things clear, easy, and realistic is what prompts you to have a productive week, which has been the case for me when I follow it.
Without forgetting your emotions as they play a role in you doing or not doing so, as your mindset
how do you plan your week to make the most of it? What is your weekly productivity routine?

Some great tips. When I plan my week my plans are always overly ambitious then I get down when I see I haven’t finished them all! I’m working on food prep as I think this will help me.

Thank you, I know I used to do the same but being realistic about what you can or can’t do can help, time blocking can help you see how much time you catually have so, you don’t overplan since you need to take into account all the things you do in your life or simply doing time audit for a week to know how you spend your time and how much time left after doing all your essntials (eg. sleep, eating,…etc). It’s a time and mind saver!!

These are great tips. Being realistic about what you can achieve during the week is so important. So many times I’ve seen people plan a productive week, only to stuff so much into it that by Thursday they are burnt out.

Thank you. Yes, it’s easy to be optimistic when you’re planning and forget reality because you’re ambitious and want to do many things and achieve your goals but that a recipe for burnout.
