Start Next Year Now
I want to share this little story of me with new year goals and planning. Like many of us, I get excited for the new year and the firework and the new beginning and all of that before starting writing my goals.
I used to not care for the new year at all; it comes and goes why would I care for the number changing
when I don’t have anything to do or look forward to that was especially true when I was at school
because I was too scared, lost, depressed and I didn’t see how can i make anything I want happen.
fastforward when i started dappling in personal development
when I discovered goal setting and achieved some I started to get excited about the new year but(you didn’t see that coming ;p) I started to get anxious at the same time when the time come for doing them
I just keot putting writing and planning my year off until the mid or the end of the month of January
my reason to justify what idid to myself is that I need it to know how to set them right (yes at the beginning I didn’t know better but I kept doing it almost yearly until last year )
the research starts but it takes too long (the need to know everything and search more while thinking that I may miss something important. so, I keep doing it for longer than i expected)
which leads me to be anxious about the time because I have not yet written my goals and January almost over.
then,I reach a point where I had enough from anxiousness and procrastination and finally, start writing them.
from my observation, now I know that this resistance toward writing is because of fear and self-doubt (I don’t have people around who encouraged it and I didn’t know better then).
then comes planning which most of the time I didn’t know all of the steps to achieve a certain goal which leads me to stuck in the planning phase.
To figure something I never did by thinking about it which later I learned that won’t work. you plan what you can see from the road then start executing what you’ve planned.
while you take action things start to open up and you start seeing more of the road, know more because you took action. (that’s what i learned)
Sometimes you only know one step of your plan to achieve that goal and that’s completely fine;
I found out after i do it most of the time that leads me to learn more or things appear in my life that help me know what to do next.
the idea is that you don’t wait to know all of the steps that lead to your goal. write what comes to your mind when thinking of how to do, how to get to that goal accomplished
also, do your research because you’ll find helpful information on how to to do almost anything on the internet but if not just go with what’ve got right now, it will lead you to find the rest.
I am not going to lie here, my brain used to feel resistant to planning and setting goals until recently;
it got better but I still see the resistant in my behavior, so, I came up with the idea of doing the weekly review and planning alongside with the monthly one.
in doing that I find it easy to map out the tasks that going to help me reach a certain goal (i call them my monthly goals) these tasks becomes my weekly goals.
I changed how I approach goals and planning and if you’re like me this will help you too.
If you have something you want to start, start now, don’t wait for next year to set goals new beginning is always now.
I just wanted to share this story with you to encourage you to start early even if the resistant or self-doubt comes. you can crush them and not be held by them and waste the first or maybe the second month of the new year in resistance, fear and procrastination
I decided to do my yearly review, setting goals and planning at the start of December.
Just wanted to remind you and me to start now because if you wait you’ll find yourself in January or maybe February and you still yet to write your goals and plan your year.
build your momentum and start next year with clarity
Start now, set a date, put in your calendar and get to work. let’s do it together
Few things that I am working on right now
- Change my mindset and beliefs about money because I know now that it’s what’s holding from making more
- overcoming fears about starting my business and actually start
- making journaling my thoughts and fears a practice and don’t let my thoughts get the best out of me
- grow my blog views and readers
are you excited about next year? what are you going to do? what are your goals? share them with me
be happy, peaceful and love more
