14 Habits To Prepare You For A Great New Year
we are creatures of habits. habits encompass our lives from the moment we wake up to the moment we sleep knowing that help us start to be intentional about them.
and start to track them and build ones that help us to create our dream life; and live our best life.
so, I came up with these 14 habits I did this year that helped me a lot and some that I am going to start now
These Are The 14 Habits To Prepare You For A Great New Year
1-Set Your Sleeping And Waking Up Time
the reason is that sleep affects your health, the way you look, your performance, and ability to do your work it diffidently affected me I start to feel drowsy at noon leading me to take a nap;
I sleep late around midnight(12 am) and I wake up early at 6 am excluding the weekends where I take extra 2 hours to go to bed and wake up
all in all thist makes me tired because I only sleep for 6 hours which not ideal for me.
I tried many times this year to sleep early but every time I only stick to three days then I fall off again.
SO, I DECIDE IT to challenge myself to sleep at 11 pm starting now then reduce it to 10 pm after a month. if you are like me now is the perfect time to start
2-Eating More Vegetables
I have been pretty good with eating my veggies. yes, there were days where I didn’t eat them but most of the days I did.
I gave myself 2 days weekly to eat what I want anything i crave and desire for me the dinner and snacks
they are important to have a healthy body and mind as they have minerals and vitamins, fibers and more.
food affects our physical and mental performance, mood, coping with stress, energy, immunity, skin and more.
3-Set A Theme For The Year
I learned this from Aileen at lavendire on youtube. A theme is a word that encompasses your actions, decisions and so on,
examples are bolder, creative, adventurous, kind,..etc.
and ask yourself how can i act this way in my life(think of specific area or goal and write a ccording to that)
4-Journal Your Fears
why would you ask? I specified it because most if not all the time what stops us from taking action, making a change, going after what we want is our fears, doubts, and beliefs
that creeps into us to prevent us from becoming who we are inside.so, write them, tackle them, create a new belief.
5-Start Scheduling Your Time
time wasting we all guilty of, sometimes you just open Instagram to replay to comments or anything related to work but we end up scrolling and lose track of why we are there and what we need to do
or we get lost after we finish our work and take more time than we should in there ;
open many tabs on the browser and lose track of what you want to do or was doing, or go on youtube and so on.
all these distractions that pull us from getting the important,life-changing things done.
being strict but flexible(when there is an emergency, changes that you can’t stop from happening or you are really tired) with your time will help you get the important things done.
what I noticed is when I don’t schedule or have a to-do list I end up doing nothing important if I did any.
If you don’t know what are you going to do on a daily basis you’ll get distracted easily and procrastinate on the important things because you didn’t schedule them.
start scheduling important things on your calendar and write your to-do list but don’t overdo it.
6-Reflect Weekly
each week I reflect on what I did, didn’t do, and how I did it. what I didn’t get to do and why. don’t forget your wins
writing my wins helped me to celebrate and see my effort , what i do and not only focus on the things i didn’t do
also, give me the push to do more to get more wins). create solutions to make the next week better.
7-BE MENTORED DAILY Without A Mentor
how? by consuming the contents of any person you look up to who has done what you want to do. they could be at any stage of their journey watch and learn from them.
there are so many great minds on the internet you could learn from if you didn’t find that person
( who has done or doing what you want to do but i doubt that you won’t find anyone) just find a great person who has done great in their life and learn from their teaching.
8-Learn Daily
set a set time and learn something that could be anything from learning:
a language, drawing, photoshop, coding, using an instrument whatever it is.
learning is fun, improve the cognitive function, give you time to think of something other than your work.
9-Use Affirmations And Change Your Limiting Beliefs
affirmations are a great way to change your thoughts when they combined with actions whither small or big.
10-Declutter
what I mean is simply keeping the environment around you tidy. I noticed when things messy I feel kinda disgusted to work in that environment.
so, I will make this a habit of mine from now on starting small by keeping my desk clean and organized then my vanity and so on.
11-Start A Gratitude Journal
it helps clear all negative energy and put me in the right mindset. the feeling after writing is peacefulness, calmness, joyfulness.
I do it as part of my night routine and now started doing here in there in the morning too.
I am planning to do it when I am feeling any kind of negative emotions or I was around negative people for a long time. it just changes your energy and keeps you in alignment. learn more on why, how to practice gratitude here
12-Create A Routine For Self- Care At The End Of Each Day
it helps me relax, get calm and forget all that happened during the day and give my mind a break. I set an alarm that to signal to my mind to start my night routine.
what I do once the alarm rang is:
I shut my computer, brush my teeth, start doing my skincare while listening to a podcast; after finishing skincare I put away my phone,
write in my gratitude journal, read, visualize(about a certain goal if not about my whole vision) then sleep.
13-Reframe
reframe your thinking by flipping the negative thoughts into positive, how you look at situations that you don’t like
what if someone late for a meeting; you can think they’re irresponsible and disrespectful or there’s might something urgent that prevent them from coming.
what if an expensive device or gadget you just bought fall from your hand and broked how will you react and think ;
you may think what the hell why this happened to me or think maybe this happened to protect me from something worse
eg. the device exploding in your hands and maybe you can fix what it ‘s broken or that help you see a better device or gadget you never noticed before or something cool going to be released soon.
what if you got in touch with someone you admire, you talked and agreed on doing something together but they didn’t respond afterward you can say he/she doesn’t like me or that you didn’t leave a good impression or you think maybe there’s something else came up that prevent them from doing so.
14-Celebrate How Far You’ve Come
we get caught up on where we are going and get frustrated, discouraged by not yet being there even if we are working hard doing what it takes to get there but if we look at how far we have come to achieve a certain goal.
how far have you come toward a certain goal
how far have you come toward creating your business; you sat up your website, started building your social media presences etc.how far you have come with your blog creating contents, building your following..etc.
how far you’ve come toward your fitness and health goals all the little habits you implemented to be healthy, from drinking 8 glasses daily to exercising 20minutes three times a week..etc.
we tend to forget all of that and I am guilty of this too. I started to write my wins which helped a lot. I do it on a weekly, monthly and yearly bases.
what habits helped you have a great year? what habits are planning on implementing next year?
peace and love
