Here Is A Quick Method To Motivate Yourself, build your confidence, learn new skills and much more

challenging yourself

We have big dreams and we want to create the life we want and that don’t come from being comfortable and doing the easy stuff.

It comes from putting yourself in discomforting situations,
doing discomforting activities, actions. Challenging yourself will help you grow and evolve.

It helps get you into situations, activities that you wouldn’t do otherwise that going to help you create the life of your dreams.

Challenges are part of life whether you like it or not. Life always brings challenges to you every step of the way.

Here you make them to get where you want. through challenging yourself to do things you’re wanting to do or feel resistant to do. you’ll start building that life you dream of and create the person who lives that life too because that person will have different thoughts than you have.

don’t underestimate a challenge bigger or small the importance of the challenge is where it leads you; what goal you’re going to achieve or get closer to achieving a goal when you do it.

What are these challenges?

These are the challenges that we impose upon ourselves.

Challenges like read for 30 minutes each day, write poetry each day, do a 10 minutes ab exercise daily, run 1km a day, eat salad for lunch for 30 days and so much more.

These are things you want to do or try but you haven’t yet. so you give yourself a specific task to do for a specific period of time(duration) eg. daily, weekly, every two days and so on.

Mostly short to keep you motivated and focused but still it’s not a rule and even if it does you can always break it ;p.

I hate saying it but keep the period of time realistic to be able to do it especially if you haven’t challenged yourself intentionally before or you are busy. eg. read for 30 minutes for two weeks or read for 30 minutes for 4 days a week.

Consistency is key when doing the challenges. focus on being consistent when doing the challenge. if you didn’t do the challenge as exactly as you said you would but you did it in some way that still counts. because you persist and put effort. eg. your challenge is reading for 30 minutes each day you read on some days for 15 minutes that still count.

These type of challenges helped motivate me, give me a surge of energy and the thrill, joy or excitement when doing it and complete it, It felt amazing after I have done them.

challenging yourself

I’ve done many challenges to myself for the past 3 years or so. they’re always great to add to your life.

I had done a workout/weight loss program for 3 weeks.

followed the instructions and the plan relentlessly without stopping even during exams; because I was determined to finish the program without a break as it required.

lost weight during it; built strength and muscles, ate much healthier, the physical changes were so apparent; felt great to do it to the end as I promised myself without needing anyone to hold me accountable.

I did it on my own to the end and that in itself is a tremendous benefit it helped me in my journey to be more confident.

I didn’t know it back then but now that I think about it and learned a lot about mindset was helpful to my confidence and trust in myself.

It started the work of building trust with myself that I am the type of person who follows her own words and promises(this was only the beginning of this work that I still continue to work on till today).

one of the bigger challenges I did that was so scary for me to do because I have social anxiety is; the three weeks confidence challenge/program from the book 7 secrets of confidence.

talking to people was so terrifying to me. I practice in my head what to say before I say it for many times depend on the situation includes small talks, asking about something, even going asking how much something cost.

if i had time like say weeks or more before I’ll do it. i get anxious like every day up to that day .

my heart is pumping too fast. hands sweat, words become hard to speak, my chest feels tight.

I did it and it helped me a lot to change from a person who has zero confidence to someone who has 30-40% confidence and that’s my estimation.

it was a big change for me and how I approach people but I still got anxiety after it but I learned more on how to change the thoughts that lead to my anxiety and some other techniques I use when I feel that way.

I am much better now especially when it comes to daily life situations; still, get back to old self sometimes when in conversations but not as much. I am still working on confidence but the program helped me a lot.

tip: stop identifying with the person who has social anxiety.

identify with the person who is confident, comfortable with being around and talking to people.

it will take time to get there but keep working on it and I still do

Another challenge I did which is smaller compared to the training program. but helped me learn how to set myself up for success which is drinking 2.5L of water a day.

I bought two big bottles of 1.5L and drank them each day non-stop, I noticed a change in how much hungry I get.

I stopped looking for snacks that much and when I do I know that is true and not coming from the confusion the brain has between hunger and thirst.

The Benefits Of Challenging Yourself Consistently

Why You Should Challenge yourself?

Doing different challenges can be very helpful to:

  1. push you through the uncomfortable
  2. it will help you grow and develop, increase your abilities and skills because you’ll challenge yourself to do something new which is discomforting.
  3. it will enhance your cognitive and physical abilities.
  4. it’ll show you that you’re capable of doing anything(helping in developing your worth),
  5. you build trust with yourself when you follow through, focus on the effort not only the results.
  6. it helps you to learn to commit, you will look to yourself differently afterword
  7. you’ll feel proud of yourself
  8. you’ll build yourself confidence through sticking with the challenge and keeping your word with yourself

If I Can’t Follow Through With The Challenge, What Should I Do?

If you don’t follow through, don’t get discouraged, that’s okay

1- if you don’t do a few days from a challenge doesn’t mean you failed.

what is important is continuing with the challenge and praise yourself for doing it to the end and the effort you put in even if you did very little.

remember this: the point of the challenge which is the goal you want to hit

eg. if your challenge to read every day for 30 minutes your goal most likely would be to read consistently to build this as a habit

2-Make it for a shorter period of time that is realistic for you that you know for sure you will do it. don’t overestimate yourself(which I do many times)

3-try doing a smaller challenge but I don’t recommend to start here. work on the duration first

4-If you missed a few days continue the challenge until you make up of the lost days or better repeat it from the beginning if you love a challenge

what are your experience with challenging yourself?
