Some make us happy, joyful, bright, peaceful, thankful, hopeful, inspired…etc.

We need more of those habits that make us feel good and fewer of the habits that make us feel miserable

In this post, I will help with ideas for habits that will make you feel good Try them and see how it goes

Will Durant

Habits that will make you feel good….

1-Stop listening to everyone, to every random dude that pretends that they know

1-It’s easy to get distracted and overwhelmed by the internet. Everyone is giving you advice

You can’t seem to catch your breath from all the information and advice that is out there.

you get convoluted ideas and arguments and that increases your overwhelm and confusion

so, take a break here and there from learning and consuming and define what you want and for what before you get back to it

2- many people on the internet pretend that they are experts to sell things to you

but they are really trying to scam you

And when they don’t scam you

They cause you headaches because they use manipulative tactics

to make you feel like what you do is wrong and that you don’t know anything

of course, that doesn’t apply to everyone. There are real experts and genuine people who share what they know and learn

Use your critical thinking when you are on the internet, like you would in real life

doing both reduces stress, overwhelm, anxiety, and that would make you feel great rather than good

few tips to help you

1-choose who you listen to and be critical of whom that is

There are people who spread misinformation, negativity, and dump ideas

so, look at their credentials and work, is it logical? Does it make sense for that field and in general?

When it doesn’t make sense to you, then you can research the topic itself, best practices, and methods in case of science

and don’t buy when you can’t afford it just because you want to invest in yourself oe someone says you should

What opened my eyes to how you can get scammed on the internet are the anti-scam content on youtube.

it explains to you how it happens and its kinds with examples and it shows that even smart people can fall into their tactics

2-the next best thing to do besides that is to stop listening to everyone altogether for a while to collect yourself and

It feels so good to take a break from the noise then you can come back with a clear mind and

choose what and who you listen to based on your needs, work, and interests, that’s what i did and do because i found myself

2-Tune down your inner critic, ie. talk kindly to yourself

We guilt, blame, fight, make fun, and say harsh things to ourselves

It’s hard, draining, makes us feel angry, hurt and irritated with ourselves

Talking negatively to yourself doesn’t work.

Some people say it works for them, and that’s wonderful for them

But for some, it doesn’t work and makes things worse

Why not try to be nice, kind, and compassionate with ourselves

Talk like we would with a friend

You’d feel good and have your own back that way

How can you start:

1-Start by noticing your negative self-talk, then use that as a trigger for saying something nice consciously to change the narrative

2-Intentionally say nice things to yourself, reframe your mindset, and any thoughts that feed into the negativity

Have the attitude that” I have my own back, i am my biggest cheerleader, teacher, and friend

Be nice and guide myself with kindness.”

3-get creative taking care of yourself

It’s another thing that is easy to ignore and postpone for later and later never comes until you burn out or worse.

as the national insituite of mental health define it as “taking the time to do things that help you live well and improve both your physical health and mental health. This can help you manage stress, lower your risk of illness, and increase your energy. Even small acts of self-care in your daily life can have a big impact”

Self-care is anything that improves your mental or physical well-being

The main reason for self-care is to improve your mental or physical well-being

Taking care of yourself can be fun, joyful, and feel good

Here is how you can start:

Go to it with an experimental mentality, try and do many things until you find the activity (s) that work for you,

that gives the outcome you want, whether that is to relieve stress, improve your body, have fun, emotional regulation, feel good,…etc

And if you know them, that’s perfect, you can start already

Schedule it on your calendar and don’t skip it

I love to read, watch dramas, and do some creative projects here and there

4-immerse yourself in something with all your senses for a while

Engage your senses: your nose, ears, eyes, hands, and legs

Be immersed without outside distractions as much as possible. Engage your mind and body in what you do

The benefits of doing this are to be more present, anchored, and grounded, and to make what you do more enjoyable

Exa: gardening, cooking, knitting, dancing, reading, coloring, drawing, painting

Dedicate time to do a single activity each week, preferably for a month, without any distractions

i have done that with reading, coloring, sketching, but i want to try new things like DIY candles,

The idea of having time to do an activity without interruption or distraction, and cleansing my senses from unwanted sensory stuff

5-spark your look

This is related to Anything that has to do with your looks,

making yourself look your best and beautiful most of the time, including when at home, too

it is about making small changes to your look here and there

Be creative, and upgrade your style to make it easy, fun, and accessible

Your looks and what you think about how you look affect your mood and the way you act. That’s improving and upgrading your look here and there

can enhance your confidence, self-worth, self-esteem, and make you feel good or the opposite

The goal is to make an effort and make yourself a priority. It’s not about doing Extravagant looks every day

But adding and subtracting little things here and there to help feel good and look good

Exa: get out of your PJs when in the house working,Try different hairstyles, try different colors of clothes, practice a makeup look until you master it,…etc

how to get started:

1-Assess where you need/want to make changes then start one by one

2-plan what you will do in as much detail as possible so you can easily implement it when you start

3-Do one change each week to make it easy

I have 3 goals when it comes to looks, i want to seriously work on:

1- wear something beautiful inside the home as I would outside for now is bout coordinating colors and styles

2-try different hairstyles weekly ( i find easy hairstyles on YouTube, choose 1-2 that I repeat throughout the week )

3-learn and practice an easy makeup look, so it will be fast to do when going out

Why not look beautiful No one is better than us. We are great as we are but it doesn’t hurt to look more beautiful if you want

6-limit the information you consume

There’s a lot of information on the internet, and you can easily get swept into consuming it nonstop

Because it gives a dopamine hit and gives you the sense of doing something useful or that you are working

aka researching when in reality you are not doing anything with the info you get, you’re just overloading your brain

Doing that reduces stress that you think you need to learn more, overwhelmed from the overload, and

confusion of consuming so information that can be contradictory or seem as important

How to do that

only consume information that you need immediately, not that you will need later

exa: You are working on gaining more followers and visibility on your social media, then

learn about it specifically from 1-3 sources, no more, then apply, assess, make changes, and repeat

Don’t consume information about building an email list when you are not working on that right now, even if you will in the future

i found myself consuming a lot of information for research and

i do love to learn and these days it’s easy to think you are learning when you consume information online

But that part of it, the part that comes when you apply, practice, revise, and create from what you learned

Great post. The first point made me roll my eyes in agreement. There are a lot of overly confident people online, telling us what we should and shouldn’t do, it’s really draining! love that you provide some ways to help.

    Thanks for sharing 😃

This is a very helpful habit to start working on It takes time to build it especially for scattered people like us to get to focus but at the end It’ll be worth it so, don’t lose hope and focus on improving a little a time because that’s what I am doing I’m not great at that instead I’m focsuing on just getting better 1% at time. You’re welcome.

These are great ideas! I especially love the piece about tuning down the inner critical voice and recognizing that you have your own back. Thank you for sharing!

Apperciate it. Yes, we need to have our own back and that comes at many forms one of which is not letting our inner critic puts us down and out. You’re welcome!!
