How To Get Ready For The New Year
“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
― Benjamin Franklin
This quote sums up what I want to say.
Preparation is a key factor to success. If you don’t prepare you risk wasting your time, feeling disappointed, getting stuck, feeling lost, and not achieving what you want
that’s why I wrote this article to help you prepare for the new year to be ready to conquer it when it hits
These are the same things I do to get ready
So, let’s do it together
What’ll learn
-8 practical steps to prepare for the new year
-explanation and resources to help with each
note: this is the first post in the “Start the Year Strong series” Check the end of the post for links to all posts in the series
Here are The 8 steps to help prepare for the new year and start the year strong
1-reflect and review the past year
This step is an important one where you get to see what happened during the past year
The wins, the progress, and the fails
Understanding why things happen the way they are is a powerful way
to not repeat the same things again
Learning from your past mistakes or wins is important to succeed
I know this step can be hard and daunting at times, especially
if you feel that you didn’t achieve your goals I urge you to do it despite that
here are the post that will show you how to reflect on the past year
here is an old post about how to review your year that I did a while back that you can follow
check the new version about how to reflect on a year things that I changed since I created that post
2-set goals
Now you are ready to set your goal(s)
Setting goals is fun part that’s why don’t go overboard with it
The goal isn’t to set many goals but to choose where to put your focus with these goals
So, don’t set too many in general
I recommend one goal for each area and after you accomplish it you can add more
Or set the number you know you can achieve based on your previous years
here are the posts about how to set goals that actually work to achieve them
based on Neuroscience
Here is an old post of mine where I share how to set goals
effectively based on common psychology
3-plan your time and what action steps you take
What action steps are you going to take to achieve your goal?
How are you going to plan your quarter, month, and week?
Imperative to plan your time in general and plan the action
steps that you need to take to reach your goal(s)
while keeping in mind these actions you write don’t have to be full i.e. you don’t have to write everything that needs to be done to reach your goals
you’ll figure it out as you go and use your monthly and weekly
planning to update what you’ll do next
Right now just write the actions that you need to do to reach your goal based on your research, learning,…
after you finish setting your goals plan them then divide your plan into multiple planning systems which consist of planning quarterly, monthly, and weekly planning
in the following posts, you’ll find how to plan your quarter, month, week
and general planning tips
they are as follows
how to plan and review your week
free workbook that has the complete process of planning your quarter, month, and week
4-set and build habits
Habits are the systems that will help you reach your goals.
building supportive habits is foundational to reaching your goals
Therefore, start thinking about what habits you can do that will move toward your goal(s).
I’ll break everything in this article on how to build habits and what habits to build based on neuroscience

5-cultivate special mindsets
to help you persevere during hard times
There are specific mindsets that helped me and are still helping
one of them is developing a growth mindset which entails changing the way you look at challenges that you face toward learning, goals and anything,
changing how you see your abilities and potential as something you can develop, cultivate
on that account, you can get better
there are others which I talk about extensively in the following post
here is an article about 3 mindsets you need to succeed at every goal
6-get and stay motivated
Why are you going after your goal(s) you need to know that first because that’s the biggest motivation
why is it painful not to achieve your goal(s)?
motivation doesn’t always come as you feeling like doing something or you feeling energetic but motivation is your desire to reach a goal badly despite how you feel
you create your own motivation and don’t wait for it. here is how
Of course, several things have the potential to help you get and stay motivated
